Why Choose Summit Canine?

I am 19 years old. I do not have decades of experience to sell to you. What I have is a lifetime of obsession with how animals learn, with my own dogs, shelter dogs and multiple other species who have been my daily teachers in animal behavior since I was old enough to hold a leash.

I have experience training dogs with all different instincts and drives from German Shepherd and Border Collies to Labs and Chihuahua's.

I started Summit Canine Academy because I believe most dog owners in Utah deserve better than what is currently available to them. I think about all the cookie cutter group classes that do not translate to life. I think about trainers who take your dog for two weeks and hand them back changed. You have no idea how to maintain it. I also think about YouTube videos that work in someone’s Kitchen but fall apart the moment your dog sees a squirrel.

I work differently. Every program I offer is built in your home around your distractions with you learning alongside your dog at every step. Because training that does not transfer to you does not hold. That is not an opinion; that is just how animal behavior works.

My approach to training dogs is balanced. I build every behavior on a foundation of positive reinforcement things like food, praise, play, and clear communication. Once that foundation is solid, I introduce pressure tools like slip leads. Only when the dog is ready and the handler has earned the skill and when the situation genuinely calls for it. I do not use dominance nonsense or fear-based methods or cheap shortcuts. I just use honest modern behavior science applied to the dog in front of me no matter the kind of dog

Currently, I do not take cases involving aggression, reactivity, or bite history with dogs. Those cases deserve a specialist. I will gladly refer you to one in northern Utah if that is what you need for your dog.

If you want marketing from a trainer who has been doing this forever, there are plenty of options, in Utah. If you want someone who genuinely cares about teaching, you and your dog real skills that last let us talk.

How It Works

Step 1 - Book a free discovery call
A free 30 minute phone call. Tell me about your dog, your daily life, and what you want training to accomplish and ill give my honest take on what’s going on and help you decide which program is the right fit or whether I’m the right trainer at all.

Step 2 - We build your training plan
Every program is individualized around your specific dog, your home, and your goals. No generic protocols or one size fits all approaches. Before your first session I know your dogs history, their triggers, their motivations, and exactly what your goals are

Step 3 - We train in your home
The start of every session happens where your dog actually lives. Because that’s where the behavior starts. You’ll be part of every session because lasting results require the human to learn alongside the dog.

4 Week Transformation

If your dog jumps on everyone who walks through the door. Pulls you down the street. Ignores you the moment something interesting appears. You got a dog to make your life better but right now its harder. Twelve in home sessions over 4 weeks, built around your dog and your home. We finish with a dedicated two day owner handoff because a trained dog means nothing if you can’t maintain it. This is the program for dogs who need real foundations not just flashy band aids. Leash manners, recall, focus, impulse control, and the daily skills that make life with your dog everything its supposed to be.

3 Programs 1 Goal

Start Your Puppy Right

The first 24 weeks of your puppy’s life wire their brain for everything that comes after. Most owners spend weeks just trying to get through the puppy phase, the biting, the accidents, the chewing. This program turns that window into an advantage. Four focused sessions covering socialization, crate training, potty training, leash introduction, puppy biting, and basic recall.
If you miss this window you could be trying to fix these problems for years. Use it right and you will have a dog that you can be proud of.

2 Week Manners Fix

If your dog has one or two habits that make daily life harder than it needs to be. Dragging you on the lease, jumping when excited, or bolting out the door even when you feel like you’ve tried everything. The problem isn’t your dog. Its that the behavior never actually got replaced with something else. Six sessions over two weeks. We identify the three problems affecting your life most and we fix them with approaches that hold up in real life not just in training sessions.

FAQs

What kinds of dogs and problems do you take?

I work with adult dogs and adolescents on foundations, manners, and leash skills, things like recall, impulse control, leash manners, jumping, door dashing, and focus around distractions. I also work with young puppies in their critical socialization window.

At this time, I don't take cases involving aggression, severe reactivity, or bite history. Those cases deserve a specialist, and I'll gladly refer you to one in northern Utah if that's what you need.

What training methods do you use?

Balanced. That means I build every behavior on a deep foundation of positive reinforcement, food, praise, play, and clear communication. Once that foundation is solid, I introduce pressure tools like slip leads when they're the right fit for the dog and the goal. No dominance nonsense. No fear based methods. No cheap tools. Just modern behavior science applied with skill.

How is Summit Canine Academy different from other trainers?

Three things. First, every program ends with a dedicated owner training handoff, because training that doesn't transfer to you doesn't hold. Most trainers skip this or tack on a 30-minute call at the end. Mine is multiple sessions, hands-on, and built into every package.

Second, I work in small numbers with high attention per dog. I'll never be the cheapest trainer in northern Utah, and I'll never be the highest volume one. I take on a limited number of dogs each month so the work actually gets done right.

Third, I'm obsessive about the craft. Animal behavior has been my focus for nearly a decade, not as a career, as a way of life. I study daily, and have worked with multiple species trying to truly bridge the gap between animal and human communication

What happens on the free discovery call?

We'll talk for 30 minutes, no pitch, no pressure. Tell me about your dog, your daily life, and what you want training to accomplish. I'll ask questions, give you my honest take on what I think is going on, and tell you whether I think I'm the right trainer for your situation. If I am, I'll recommend a program. If I'm not, I'll tell you who to call instead.

How much does training cost?

Programs range from $400 to $1200 during the current introductory phase with the founding discount, depending on your dog’s needs and which program is the best fit.

During your free 30-minute discovery call, I’ll evaluate your dog’s behavior and recommend the correct program based on:

  • Your dog’s current behavior challenges

  • Your goals for training

  • The level of structure and support required
